Basal Metabolism
Energy, as heat, is
produced as the product of metabolic activity of a cell. This energy is
essential for survival of an organism. This energy production may vary
according to the needs of cell and factors affecting the metabolism and may
show a diurnal variation. However under certain conditions, called Basal
conditions, it remains fairly constant.
Definition
